In April 2019, I joined GoDaddy and immediately took on two big projects: GoDaddy App Redesign and Smartline App Redesign (this project) – which later became the Conversations App.
Unlike the GoDaddy app, the Smartline team fortunately already had a full-time designer, Max Krylov. We also brought on seasoned freelancer Matt Smith to lead the redesign for 12 weeks.
I managed this project from April through July before we paused due to a company reorg. We resumed in Dec 2019 with a new vision. Instead of redesigning Smartline, leadership envisioned a new app designed for multi-channel messaging—bringing all business communications (phone, Facebook, Instagram, webchat) into a single unified inbox.
Leveraging our initial work, I transitioned into the hands-on lead designer role in December. Here are some highlights of my contributions to this project.

Designing an onboarding that supports multiple channels while integrating with GoDaddy's existing system was very challenging. It required extensive collaboration with both internal and external teams. After multiple iterations and reviews, we finally had a version that gained approval from all teams by Feb 2020.
