Mobile Ventures
Design Director, 2019 – 2023
Mobile Ventures was the combined team from GoDaddy Mobile, Smartline, Over, and Vidnami—formed to build mobile tools for small businesses, from websites to messaging, content creation, and commerce.
I joined as Design Director in 2019 to build a mobile design team. Over time—and through a few acquisitions—the team grew to 16 designers working across 3 apps, spread across time zones (SF, NY, South Africa, and Hawai‘i).
I bridged the MV leadership team and the larger GoDaddy design org, juggling day-to-day execution while contributing to design culture. MV was like a startup: I shaped vision, created prototypes, hired designers, procured tools, made swags—whatever was needed.

Studio 9
This was my last project at GoDaddy—an initiative I pitched and got green-lit. The goal was to bring our vision to life through an engaging customer journey story.
It felt a bit like directing a film: lots of logistics, planning, and coordination. I borrowed parts of the design sprint process, but stretched it to 10 weeks to fit everyone’s schedule and maintain the quality we were aiming for—especially since folks were spread across time zones and juggling other projects.
I worked closely with our writers on the script, assigned designers, and set parameters for the prototype. We tested concepts along the way. In the end, I stitched everything—prototypes, footage, and story—into a single shareable video to bring the vision to the rest of the org.
Huge thanks to Matt Riley, Chloe Foden and Mike Herdzina for the support in making this happen.

I stitched all the prototypes into a single story and added voiceover. The result: a rich, detailed walkthrough with polished interactions—used as a north star for the next few years.

Site Maker
An early prototype showing how someone might build a website on their phone. The idea: template-based, dead-simple touch interactions. Easy enough to create a site while riding the bus.

Design Team
Once a week, we do a design review. Since each designer worked with their own squad (prod + eng), this was our chance to share what we were working on—stay aligned, sharpen our thinking, and support each other when extra hands were needed.
Sometimes we were strict. Most of the time, we just enjoyed reviewing each other’s work, bonding as a team, and coaching each other—whether it was on presenting, visuals, icons, animations, or whatever skill someone wanted to grow.
Btw, this meeting was at 5am my time, 5pm in South Africa. As I always say, a small price to pay for living in Hawai‘i.

Swag
Mobile Ventures was like a mini startup within GoDaddy—everyone wore many hats, and no task was too small. I designed this swag using our app icons, kept it minimal, and made sure it was something the whole team would be proud to wear anywhere.
Shout out to Valerie Pearcy for finding perfect hoodies.

Notion
Getting a tool approved for a large team (100+) inside an even bigger org isn’t as simple as it sounds. Luckily, I had a great partner for this task: Molly Koerner. The procurement process was a bit tedious, but everyone at GD was super nice and helpful—making it a good learning experience. I even prepped little icons to make our space feel extra cozy for everyone.

UI Class
Designers at GD didn’t need to be taught UI—they were pros. But I got a lot of requests to share how I approach mobile design, so I put together a follow-along class where I showed, step by step, how I do things. We went back to basics and focused on native mobile. It was fun seeing different habits, and I picked up a few tips and tricks too. Mostly, it was just a nice way to hang out and nerd out about workflow.

Every now and then, I get pulled in to help other teams bring their ideas to life. In this case, they wanted to explore how we might surface and promote GoDaddy Pros more effectively within the app.
